Rosemont/Hudbay seeking to destroy our Santa Rita Mountains

August 11, 2021 By santaritas

As has been reported, Rosemont is engaged in major exploration efforts to quantify the potential mineral deposits on the western slope of the Santa Rita Mountains.  Using a third party, Sonoran Property Investors, who they have recently taken over, Rosemont has acquired a significant number of land parcels in this area, presumably, to utilize for the development of mining claims on the western side of the Santa Rita mountains.

The aquamarine line follows the approximate alignment of Santa Rita Rd. and the brown line is the ridgeline of the Santa Rita Mountains.

Rosemont’s potential development of mining operations on the western side of the mountain brings into clear focus the potential impacts of massive copper mining that Rosemont seeks to build on BOTH sides of the Santa Rita mountain. Rosemont will deplete and contaminate our drinking water, pollute our air, and reduce our home values.

You can take action today by letting your local elected officials know that you are concerned about Rosemont’s potential destruction of our Santa Rita Mountains. Complete the form below to send a letter to these elected officials. Also, be sure to sign up to receive our newsletters. We are planning some events to increase awareness about the impacts to our mountains from massive open-pit mining and what we can do to stop it.
