City of Tucson resolution 23626

June 6, 2023 the Tucson City Council passed resolution 23626 calling on Arizona's congressional delegation to oppose H.R. 209, S. 1281 (Mining Regulatory Clarity Act) and H.R. 2925 and to support the Clean Energy and Minerals Reform Act, as sponsored by Sen. Heinrich and Rep. Grijalva. The council stated that the Clean Energy and Minerals Reform Act would enact meaningful mining reform while protecting national parks and monuments and other public lands and key environmental resources; and call on Arizona’s Congressional delegation to support this legislation.
Pima County resolution 2023-12 opposing Cortez-Masto Bill

On May 16, 2023, the Pima County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution opposing the Permitting for Mining Needs Act and the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act, as well as any similar legislation that attempts to allow mining projects on public lands in areas without mining claims and in areas with unproven mining claims, and supports meaningful mining reform.
