Morris Farr, Ph.D.
Board member emritus
Morris has been a Board member of Save the Scenic Santa Ritas since 2003.  He was born in Kansas City, Missouri.  He received a B.S. in physics from Rice University and holds a Ph.D. in nuclear science from the University of Michigan.  He came to Tucson in 1969 to join the faculty at the University of Arizona.  He was elected to the Arizona State Senate in 1974 where he served three terms.  In 1980 he was a pivotal member of the Natural Resources Committee, which negotiated the passage of the first Groundwater Management Act for Arizona. Â
He reminds us that the only way the law could pass was to exclude mines – an omission that definitely needs to be corrected.  He served as Chair of the Democratic Party in Pima County from 1980 to 1983.  He retired from the University of Arizona in 1996 and lives in Sonoita with his wife, Dr. Molly Anderson.Â
